Rimrock Villa Convalescent Hospital is located near a number of points of interest, both indoor and outdoor, that visitors of all ages will enjoy. For a day trip, we suggest:

  • The Desert Discovery Center is a museum that teaches visitors about desert life, including plants and animals. The notable exhibit is the Old Woman meteorite, the second largest iron meteorite in the country.
  • Rainbow Basin Natural Area is famous for rock formations with layers of different colors, giving the area a rainbow look. Visitors can walk through the area, view wildlife and see an archeological site, home to tools more than 200,000 years old which may or may not be man-made.
  • Death Valley National Park is known for extreme weather, ranging from subfreezing temperatures to the hottest temperature in the world, 134 degrees. It also has a topography range of 232 feet below sea level to 11,043 above sea level. The park features mysterious wandering rocks, basins, creeks, mountains and ghost towns.
  • Barstow Route 66 “Mother Road” Museum holds a number of artifacts from the route. The museum features photographs, paintings, books, model trains and classic cars.
